This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the distribution network, including assigned agents and territories.
• Evaluate the territory to pinpoint opportunities and obstacles for profitable growth.
• Engage in the formulation and implementation of regional distribution strategies.
• Seek out agencies, manage appointments and terminations, and ensure suitable agency representation.
• Cultivate and sustain knowledge of appointed agencies, including their books, sales methodologies, capabilities, competition, and key stakeholders.
• Handle agency relations, business planning, contracts, coding, tiering, compensation, and contact details.
• Build a pipeline of qualified prospects, niches, and business portfolios.
• Prequalify submissions and advocate for the small business plan.
• Educate agents about Zenith systems, tools, processes, underwriting appetite, products, services, and capabilities.
• Collaboratively manage new and renewal sales with management, underwriting, and other departments.
• Aid in the acquisition and retention of valuable business for profitable growth.
• Support agents with joint policyholder presentations and resolve customer or service-related issues affecting sales.
• Monitor agency performance and modify agency plans as required.
• Generate competitive intelligence for the local market.
• Advocate for the Zenith brand, value proposition, products, and capabilities.
• Conduct agency orientations, training sessions, joint sales calls, and participate in industry, agency, policyholder, and association events.
• Enhance the agency and policyholder experience while overcoming service obstacles.
• Assist underwriting and other departments in addressing policyholder issues.
• Foster relationships with agents, policyholders, associations, and Zenith staff and management.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s Degree or a comparable combination of training and experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, including knowledge of workers' compensation and basic underwriting; or 5+ years in sales or customer-facing roles with a focus on maintaining and growing a book of business.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to effectively present ideas in both formal and informal settings.
• Comfort with delivering public presentations.
• Demonstrated sales capability.
• Strong team-player attitude.
• Proven skills in influence management.
• Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to manage agency relationships and territories effectively.
• Familiarity with insurance products, workers' compensation, underwriting, sales processes, and customer-facing business development.
