Temporary Staff Accountant – Contract, Project-Based

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the CFO in evaluating, matching, and reconciling historical general ledger accounts, with an emphasis on Balance Sheet and P&L line items.

• Investigate transactional discrepancies, missing documentation, and unreconciled balances across manual spreadsheets and system logs.

• Conduct regular subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank accounts.

• Input, organize, and rectify historical accounting entries.

• Aid in daily transactional processing while addressing the accounting backlog.

• Enter, validate, and categorize vendor invoices, expense reports, and customer billing information.

• Maintain well-organized digital audit trails and electronic filing systems.

• Collect supporting documentation for financial schedules and regular reporting as directed by the CFO.

⛳️ Requirements

• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach, eager to delve into granular transactional details, manual process errors, and intricate spreadsheets.

• Strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles, general ledger frameworks, and the implications for P&L and Balance Sheet.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, basic pivot tables, data sorting/filtering, and formula creation.

• Capable of closely following directions and working independently on repetitive or detailed assignments.

• Willingness to ask clarifying questions when faced with anomalies.

• Acknowledgment that this is a temporary, contract-based role concluding upon the completion of the backlog project.

• 1–3 years of practical accounting or bookkeeping experience.

• Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint is highly preferred; familiarity with Unanet or other ERP systems is a plus.

• Previous exposure to government contracting environments is preferred but not mandatory.

• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant coursework towards a degree; applicable practical experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
