Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create proposal content by collecting and integrating information about the project’s nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation methods, timetable, staffing, budget, performance standards, and evaluation metrics.

• Ensure that the developed sections adhere to solicitation requirements and include strategies, winning themes, and differentiators.

• Collaborate with Business Units, the Proposal Manager, Subject Matter Experts, and Teaming Partners to gather necessary content for drafting persuasive proposal sections.

• Conduct interviews with SMEs, consultants, capture managers, and other proposal team members to gather information for proposals, then independently craft technically clear and engaging proposal content.

• Provide insights on proposal content, highlighting strengths and benefits to enhance responses.

• Manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously under tight and changing deadlines.

• Participate in daily stand-up calls for live bids to report on the status of proposal sections under the writer's responsibility and identify any issues or resource needs.

• Engage actively in all phases of the proposal development process, which includes gate reviews, win strategies, win themes/differentiators, outlines, compliance matrices, color reviews, writing and editing, graphic design, desktop publishing, document production, and packaging and delivery.

• Take part in strategy and solutioning sessions to formulate winning approaches.

• Assist with the conceptualization and creation of proposal graphics as necessary.

• Support the drafting and development of technical documents, past performance summaries, staffing plans, resume formatting, and management narratives for large-scale, complex strategic proposals.

• Prepare past performance questionnaires for completion by customers.

• Assist with corporate writing and editing efforts as needed, including marketing materials and website content.

• Maintain and update SharePoint repositories with reusable content and previous writings.

• Ensure proposal content meets 508 compliance standards, when applicable.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Over 5 years of experience in supporting federal proposal development (RFPs, RFIs).

• Demonstrated ability to create compliant, high-quality proposal content that aligns with solicitation requirements, winning strategies, and evaluation criteria.

• Significant experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, SMEs, and teaming partners to gather and synthesize technical content.

• Proven ability to independently interview SMEs and convert complex technical concepts into clear, engaging written narratives.

• Experience supporting all phases of the proposal lifecycle, including solution development, content generation, color reviews, editing, and final production.

• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and adhere to tight, shifting deadlines, alongside the ability to conduct independent research.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools like SharePoint.

• Excellent editing, proofreading, and attention-to-detail skills, ensuring compliance with requirements and formatting standards.

• Ability to contribute to proposal graphics, outlines, and compliance matrices is preferred.
