This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Work alongside UX Design, Technical UI Design, UI Art, and Engineering teams to develop AAA-quality user interfaces.
• Transform wireframes and UX concepts into refined visual designs and functional in-engine UI.
• Establish and manage design systems, including menus, HUD components, iconography, UI materials, shaders, animations, and motion design.
• Construct and integrate UI art directly within Unreal Engine utilizing UMG.
• Develop material and shader effects for user interfaces.
• Create UI animations, transitions, 2D effects, and various real-time visual enhancements.
• Implement fundamental Blueprint logic to support UI presentations.
• Analyze visual, performance, and implementation challenges, collaborating with technical partners to address them.
• Optimize UI assets and effects for enhanced runtime performance.
• Quickly adjust work to align with evolving requirements and feature designs.
• Assist in maintaining visual consistency and quality throughout the overall UI/UX experience.
• Proven experience with Unreal Engine and UMG; Unreal expertise is essential.
• A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality UI visual design and implementation.
• Experience in creating UI from initial concepts through to final in-engine execution.
• Proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar visual design tools.
• Extensive experience in developing UI materials and shaders for real-time applications.
• Familiarity with motion design, UI animation, visual effects, or interaction design.
• A solid understanding of layout, composition, hierarchy, typography, and visual communication.
• Capability to work independently on intricate UI features while effectively collaborating across teams.
• Experience working within technical limitations and adapting visual designs as implementation needs evolve.
• Strong player empathy and insight into how visual choices impact usability.
• Preferred: background in optimizing and debugging real-time UI.
• Preferred: knowledge of shader logic and technically sophisticated material effects.
• Preferred: mathematical knowledge relevant to shader and motion work, including vector mathematics, transformations, interpolation, and matrices.
• Preferred: experience in designing responsive interfaces across various resolutions, aspect ratios, or device types.
• Preferred: mobile UI design experience.
• Frontend web development skills such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript are not a core requirement.
