This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas, +1 more state.
• Conduct both virtual and in-person training sessions led by instructors, focusing on operating rules, safe work procedures, and best practices in operations.
• Educate and assist with company-specific operating regulations, including those influenced by the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and industrial rulebooks that align with the General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR).
• Provide training on rail-specific operating procedures including train and yard movements, switching, radio communication, signal awareness, track authority, protection of personnel and equipment, as well as job briefing expectations.
• Assess employee proficiency and facilitate qualification, re-qualification, and corrective training as necessary.
• Assist in qualification programs for safety-sensitive railway employees by documenting training completions, assessing rule comprehension, and identifying employees who require refresher or corrective training.
• Create, revise, and sustain clear and precise training materials, assessments, and supporting documentation for both virtual and in-person sessions.
• Keep current with regulatory requirements, rulebook modifications, and industry best practices.
• Oversee regulatory and industry expectations concerning railway employee training, qualification, compliance with operating rules, and safety-critical performance.
• Develop, update, and maintain company operating rulebooks, which includes creating new rules and revising existing procedures as necessary.
• Aid in the ongoing development and enhancement of on-the-job training programs and associated learning resources.
• Promote continuous improvement of training programs, documentation, and instructional resources.
• Ensure alignment between instructor-led training, e-learning content, and mentorship materials.
• Collaborate with operations leaders to determine training requirements, address knowledge deficiencies, and provide guidance on rules.
• Work alongside field operations, supervisors, and subject matter experts to guarantee that training accurately reflects the current operational environments of terminals, yards, industrial switching, and mainline operations.
• Execute operational support tasks between training sessions, which include updating rulebooks, enhancing procedures, developing eLearning materials, and handling documentation tasks.
• A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of railway operations experience in the United States and/or Canada.
• At least three (3) years of experience in delivering training, instructing on rules, or assessing employee skills.
• Required knowledge/experience with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) for Canada or General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) for the United States.
• A valid driver’s license is essential.
• Willingness to travel, including internationally.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a safety-critical medical clearance in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
