Technical Security Controls Principal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Establish enterprise-wide technical security-control patterns, standards, and design expectations across identity, endpoint, network, cloud, data, application, and logging sectors.

• Evaluate whether controls are effectively designed and functioning as intended through configuration reviews, data validation, sampling, walkthroughs, and independent assessments.

• Create technical testing procedures and evidence standards that extend beyond mere questionnaire or document-based assurances.

• Develop or support automation, API integrations, telemetry-driven analytics, and use cases for continuous control monitoring.

• Convert regulatory and framework demands into technically relevant control objectives.

• Identify controls that exist administratively but lack effectiveness.

• Lead intricate control-gap analyses, remediation design, exception/risk-acceptance evaluations, and validate closure actions.

• Serve as a senior technical advisor to Cybersecurity, GRC, Internal Audit, technology teams, and executives concerning control effectiveness.

• Guide analysts and engineers while establishing uniform control-engineering practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive and comprehensive experience in security architecture/control across various technological domains.

• Practical capability to assess configurations, logs, system data, architecture, technical evidence, and control logic.

• Proven experience in designing technical control tests and validating their operational effectiveness.

• Proficiency in utilizing scripting, APIs, analytics, or security telemetry for automating evidence collection and ongoing monitoring.

• In-depth understanding of control patterns related to cloud, identity, endpoint, network, application, data protection, and logging/security monitoring.

• Typically requires 10+ years of progressive experience in the cybersecurity field.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
