Technical Sales Agronomist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish and nurture productive, professional relationships with key retailers, points of sale, farmers, crop advisors, universities, and agricultural influencers throughout Western Canada to enhance product understanding, confidence, and adoption.

• Provide agronomic training, technical assistance, and field-based insights to internal sales teams, retail partners, distributors, and growers, supporting both the existing product range and upcoming launches.

• Serve as the technical authority in facilitating sales strategies, customer acquisition, demand generation, and market penetration across Western Canada.

• Offer agronomic expertise and technical recommendations that promote customer success and bolster Vive’s standing in the marketplace.

• Act as a representative for Vive at industry events, agronomy meetings, trade shows, customer-facing technical engagements, and grower educational events.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Biology, Marketing, Sales, and Product Development teams to identify new market opportunities, assess agronomic demands, and inform decisions regarding products to incorporate into the portfolio.

• Lead and manage field-scale and small plot trial initiatives across Western Canada to generate high-quality agronomic and performance data.

• Partner with Product Development and Biology teams to enhance agronomic data collection, analysis, knowledge transfer, and technical insights that guide product positioning and future portfolio enhancement.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Plant Pathology, Agricultural Science, Plant Production, or a related field with a strong emphasis on crop protection.

• Over 7 years of experience in agronomy support, technical services, sales agronomy, or market development within the Canadian agricultural sector.

• Comprehensive understanding of Western Canadian cropping systems, including cereals, canola, pulse crops, and specialty crops.

• Proven expertise in managing small plot and field-scale trial programs, underpinned by a solid foundation in general agronomy and Canadian cropping systems.

• Strong knowledge of crop protection products and their applications; experience with biologicals and emerging crop input technologies is advantageous.

• Exceptional comprehension of grower agronomic decision-making across varied cropping systems and environmental contexts.

• Experience collaborating with key influencers, universities, seed companies, ag retailers, distributors, consultants, and innovative growers; previous experience with an ag-retailer is a plus.

• Background in introducing new products and technologies to the market and facilitating commercial adoption.

• Familiarity with digital agronomy and precision agriculture technologies to support customer recommendations and agronomic insights.

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the capability to influence stakeholders and build trusted relationships throughout the industry.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills, along with an independent, self-starting attitude, thriving in a dynamic growth environment.
