Technical Project Manager, Telecom

📋 Description

• This position is accountable for defining and overseeing the delivery strategy for a complex telecom transformation initiative, ranging from initial planning to execution.

• Collaborating closely with architects and technical leaders, you will convert evolving technical designs into a structured delivery framework featuring clear workstreams, milestones, ownership, dependencies, and governance.

• Throughout the project lifecycle, you will coordinate technical teams, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure that delivery remains in line with the project's objectives.

• The role acts as the primary delivery lead, facilitating effective coordination across various technical domains, ensuring that strategic goals align with execution activities, and driving successful results in dynamic and fast-paced environments.

• Engage with stakeholders, architects, and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate business goals into a structured delivery framework, defining workstreams, milestones, deliverables, ownership, dependencies, and governance.

• Assist in the development of the target solution by identifying planning assumptions, information gaps, technical dependencies, and decision points, ensuring they are included in the project plan as the design evolves.

• Convert emerging architectural and engineering decisions into actionable work packages, realistic delivery schedules, and clear acceptance criteria.

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, and project teams throughout the project to ensure delivery alignment, resolve dependencies, and modify plans as new information arises.

• Maintain project plans, risks, assumptions, dependencies, decisions, and status reporting, delivering concise, decision-focused updates to project leadership and stakeholders.

• Promote cross-functional collaboration among network, infrastructure, security, operations, and engineering teams to guarantee successful project delivery.

• Oversee project financials, resource needs, and capacity planning to ensure delivery commitments are feasible and in alignment with organizational priorities.

• Lead workshops, planning sessions, and technical reviews to achieve stakeholder alignment and expedite issue resolution.

• Develop and manage integrated project schedules, highlighting critical paths, risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies.

• Ensure compliance with organizational delivery methodologies, quality standards, compliance requirements, and change management processes.

• Support transition-to-operations activities, including operational readiness assessments, knowledge transfer, and service acceptance planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of project or program management experience in telecom networks, digital infrastructure, or a similar technical setting.

• Experience in planning and initiating projects where the scope, roadmap, or solution was still under development—not just executing projects with a predefined plan.

• Proven experience collaborating with technical teams to develop delivery strategies for complex engineering or infrastructure initiatives.

• Practical understanding of telecom and network infrastructure, with the capability to comprehend technical designs, identify dependencies, and question assumptions when necessary.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in environments that require direct engagement with stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale transformations, network modernization, cloud migrations, or infrastructure deployment programs.

• Experience managing multiple workstreams, vendors, and geographically dispersed teams within intricate delivery environments.

• Strong familiarity with project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models.

• Experience in risk management, governance reporting, executive-level communications, and engagement with steering committees.

• Proficient in project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.

• Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent are highly preferred.
