Technical Project Manager, Telecom

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• This role is tasked with defining and managing the delivery strategy for a complex telecom transformation initiative, spanning from initial planning to execution.

• You will collaborate closely with architects and technical leads to convert evolving technical designs into a well-structured delivery plan that includes clear workstreams, milestones, ownership, dependencies, and governance.

• Throughout the project lifecycle, you will coordinate technical teams, oversee risks and dependencies, and ensure delivery remains consistent with the project's objectives.

• Serving as the primary delivery lead, you will ensure effective coordination across multiple technical domains, maintain alignment between strategic goals and execution tasks, and drive successful results in dynamic and fast-paced environments.

• Engage with stakeholders, architects, and technical subject matter experts to convert business objectives into a structured delivery methodology, specifying workstreams, milestones, deliverables, ownership, dependencies, and governance.

• Assist in the development of the target solution by pinpointing planning assumptions, information gaps, technical dependencies, and decision points, ensuring they are incorporated into the project plan as the design progresses.

• Convert emerging architecture and engineering decisions into actionable work packages, realistic delivery plans, and clear acceptance criteria.

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, and project teams throughout the project to maintain delivery alignment, address dependencies, and adjust plans as new information surfaces.

• Keep project plans, risks, assumptions, dependencies, decisions, and status reports up to date, providing concise, decision-focused updates to project leadership and stakeholders.

• Foster cross-functional collaboration among network, infrastructure, security, operations, and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

• Oversee project financials, resource needs, and capacity planning to guarantee that delivery commitments remain feasible and aligned with organizational priorities.

• Facilitate workshops, planning sessions, and technical reviews to achieve stakeholder consensus and expedite issue resolution.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, highlighting critical paths, risks, constraints, and mitigation strategies.

• Ensure compliance with organizational delivery methodologies, quality standards, compliance requirements, and change management processes.

• Assist in transition-to-operations activities, including operational readiness assessments, knowledge transfer, and service acceptance planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of project or program management experience in telecom networks, digital infrastructure, or a comparable technical field.

• Proven experience in planning and mobilizing projects where the scope, roadmap, or solution was still being defined—not just delivering projects with a set plan.

• Experience collaborating closely with technical teams to develop delivery plans for intricate engineering or infrastructure projects.

• Solid understanding of telecom and network infrastructure, with the capability to comprehend technical designs, identify dependencies, and challenge assumptions when necessary.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities in environments that require stakeholder engagement.

• Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation, network modernization, cloud migration, or infrastructure deployment initiatives.

• Experience managing multiple workstreams, vendors, and geographically dispersed teams in complex delivery settings.

• Strong familiarity with project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models.

• Experience in risk management, governance reporting, executive-level communication, and steering committee participation.

• Proficient in project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.

• Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent are highly preferred.
