This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary representative for Site Deployment concerning mechanical design assurance across designated campuses, projects, and expansions.
• Engage in design page-turn reviews from the conceptual design phase through to the issuance of IFC drawings.
• Assess mechanical design packages, narratives, specifications, sequences of operation, equipment schedules, drawing sets, submittals, equipment selections, vendor documentation, and proposed alternatives.
• Assist in addressing RFIs related to mechanical systems, equipment accessibility, operating modes, redundancy, control interfaces, maintenance clearances, and serviceability.
• Analyze value engineering proposals and design modifications for operational risks.
• Offer technical insights for mechanical commissioning strategies, acceptance criteria, testing scripts, TAB requirements, integrated systems testing, and turnover readiness.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Business Operations, Site Deployment TPMs, and local Site Operations/MCO teams.
• Monitor design review comments, assigned tasks, and mechanical issues until resolution.
• Evaluate chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, pumps, piping, valves, heat exchangers, cooling towers, dry coolers, economization, filtration, water treatment, controls, and support infrastructure.
• Confirm maintenance access, equipment clearances, rigging paths, valve accessibility, isolation strategy, redundancy philosophy, and operational workflows.
• Contribute lessons learned to enhance future mechanical design standards, templates, checklists, and review criteria.
• Facilitate operator readiness throughout construction, commissioning, training, CMMS population, turnover, and steady-state operations.
• Over 5 years of experience in data center operations, mechanical engineering, commissioning, critical facilities maintenance, construction QA/QC, or mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
• Extensive working knowledge of data center mechanical systems, including chilled water, airside cooling, pumping systems, mechanical controls, water treatment, and supporting utility systems.
• Experience in reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, commissioning documents, sequences of operations, and technical vendor documentation.
• Capability to identify operability, maintainability, reliability, safety, and lifecycle risks within mechanical design packages.
• Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying operator concerns to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and ensure comments and issues are resolved.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with project documentation, drawing management, and issue tracking workflows.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% within North America.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in mission-critical environments.
• Preferred: Experience in hyperscale data center design, operations, commissioning, or construction delivery.
• Preferred: Background in BMS/EPMS coordination, mechanical commissioning, TAB review, integrated systems testing, or operational acceptance programs.
• Preferred: Understanding of reliability-centered maintenance, critical spares strategy, and operational readiness requirements.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
