This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and manage all technical elements of AC power substation projects.
• Conduct physical substation design with collaboration from protection and control, civil, and other engineering teams.
• Specify and apply substation equipment.
• Lead technical teams while coordinating with contractors, vendors, clients, project managers, and engineering groups.
• Manage scheduling, adherence to standards and specifications, value engineering, design review planning, engineering-hour budgets, as well as quality assurance and control.
• Create and supervise single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, arrangement drawings, grounding and conduit/trench diagrams, cable routing, detail diagrams, and control-building layouts.
• Develop configurations for high-voltage bus, structures, equipment, and wiring.
• Prepare bills of materials, studies, and calculations.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Direct and provide support to engineers and designers to ensure compliance with technical specifications, budgets, and schedules.
• Promote cross-discipline coordination for comprehensive substation solutions.
• Review and contribute to inquiry-to-order process deliverables, conceptual engineering, proposal documents, sourcing support, vendor quotation assessments, and technical clarifications.
• Draft high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor work scopes.
• Facilitate vendor engagement and equipment selection.
• Lead subcontracted design work scopes as necessary.
• Assist in enhancing team productivity and billable utilization.
• Ensure engineering outputs align with customer critical-to-quality requirements and are delivered punctually and within budget.
• Support commissioning and interface efforts with customer-project stakeholders.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in industrial or utility HV/EHV substation design.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, including international trips, in accordance with company travel and tax policies.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing, with the capability to obtain licensure in other states.
• Readiness to utilize the professional engineering license.
• Familiarity with North American electric utility substation design standards.
• Expertise in transmission and distribution substation engineering for utility and renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency in primary outdoor substation design, calculations, and electrical protection.
• Experience in industrial power system design at 12.5 kV and above.
• Proficient in battery sizing, DC system design, and AC auxiliary power calculations.
• Skilled in power transformer and circuit breaker selection.
• Competent in conductor sizing and application.
• Experienced in grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.
• Knowledgeable of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.
• Ability to create complete engineering packages without detailed customer specifications.
• Experience in field-testing and commissioning, with a strong emphasis on safety.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
• Capable of customer-facing communication and possessing commercial awareness, including change orders and project delivery.
