This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage all technical components of AC power substation projects.
• Execute physical substation design with assistance from protection and control, civil, and various other engineering teams.
• Oversee the complete range of HV/EHV substation design within engineering projects.
• Act as the main technical authority for scheduling, adherence to standards, value engineering, design evaluations, engineering budgets, and quality assurance/control.
• Create and supervise power single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, substation layout drawings, high-voltage bus and equipment configurations, bills of materials, studies, and calculations.
• Serve as the singular technical contact for clients, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Guide and support engineers and designers to fulfill specifications, financial plans, and timelines.
• Propel cross-disciplinary coordination for cohesive substation solutions.
• Review and contribute to inquiry-to-order deliverables, conceptual engineering, proposal documentation, sourcing support, vendor assessments, and technical clarifications.
• Draft high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor work scopes.
• Aid in vendor engagement, selection of equipment, and subcontracted design scopes.
• Assist with team productivity and billable utilization.
• Ensure engineering outputs align with customer critical-to-quality requirements and are delivered punctually and within budget.
• Support commissioning and customer/project stakeholder engagement efforts.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in industrial or utility HV/EHV substation design.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%, including international travel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing, with the capability to obtain licensure in other states.
• Familiarity with North American electric utility substation design standards.
• Proficient in transmission and distribution substation engineering for utility and renewable energy initiatives.
• Expertise in primary outdoor substation design, calculations, and electrical protection.
• Experience in industrial power system design at 12.5 kV and above.
• Skilled in battery sizing, DC system design, AC auxiliary power, transformer and circuit breaker selection, conductor sizing, grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.
• Knowledgeable in IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.
• Experience with field-testing and commissioning, with a strong focus on safety.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective customer-facing communication skills and commercial awareness, including change orders and project delivery.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and design automation tools.
