This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +5 more countries.
• Transform the VP’s strategy into a prioritized backlog comprising problems, user stories, and acceptance criteria for the Engineering team to deliver consistently.
• Maintain a 'thin-sliced' approach to work, enabling the team to ship frequently, learn rapidly, and mitigate risks through iterative processes.
• Uphold a structured schedule for backlog refinement, sprint preparation, and scope discussions to ensure predictable delivery while fostering innovation.
• Utilize your practical DevOps knowledge and understanding of the workflows of the professionals you’re developing for, particularly cloud operators and practitioners.
• Employ firsthand domain insights and ongoing customer interactions to pinpoint friction points, gaps, and opportunities for differentiation.
• Focus on enhancements that significantly improve outcomes such as speed, reliability, clarity, safety, governance, cost implications, or operational simplicity.
• Regularly engage with customers (targeting 3-5 calls per week) and collaborate with cross-functional DoiT stakeholders to test concepts, validate assumptions, and critically assess trade-offs.
• Communicate effectively and confidently: present ideas early, welcome feedback openly, integrate input into decisions, and articulate the reasoning behind choices to build trust.
• Leverage your hands-on DevOps experience to delve into technical details with stakeholders (both internal and external) regarding the problem, our solution, and the contexts in which they operate.
• Function as an integral member of the Core Services’ Engineering team - engaging in daily collaboration, making decisive choices, and being pragmatic about constraints.
• Collaborate with Engineering leads on sequencing, technical trade-offs, and delivery planning - ensuring that product intent is preserved through implementation challenges.
• Ensure coherence across Core Services in terms of UX, APIs, data, and operational behavior, meeting high standards for reliability and customer trust.
• Define what constitutes ‘success’ for Core Services with clear metrics (adoption, activation, workflow completion, time-to-value, retention, reliability indicators, and customer-reported impact).
• Instrument learning by ensuring releases are measurable and that insights consistently inform prioritization.
• Oversee release readiness for Core Services: including documentation, enablement resources, and clear communication regarding new features and their significance.
• Ensure product requirements consider real-world cloud environments: IAM boundaries, auditability, guardrails, and safe defaults.
• Collaborate with security, support, and customer teams to foresee edge cases and ensure that Core Services build trust over time.
• 7–10 years of practical experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, SRE, Cloud Engineer, Solutions Architect, or related roles, working with or developing products for public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure).
• Strong product sensibility for converting complex issues into clear scopes and delivered value without waiting for complete information.
• Systems thinking: Ability to analyze complex distributed systems, architectural trade-offs, and long-term platform evolution.
• Prioritization: Proven capability to balance customer requirements, engineering limitations, and platform investments when making prioritization choices.
• Deep curiosity and technical proficiency in cloud essentials (cost/billing concepts, identity/IAM, networking, compute, Kubernetes, observability, automation) with experience in building solutions leveraging these technologies.
• Coding experience is advantageous - sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineers, assess feasibility, and comprehend system behaviors.
• Exceptional communication skills: capable of simplifying complex ideas, facilitating alignment, and confidently engaging with customers and experts.
