This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take ownership of single-threaded leadership (STL): Act as the accountable product leader for the transaction rail, ensuring alignment, prioritization, and execution across all teams engaged in the payment lifecycle.
• Consider the entire value chain: Comprehend and enhance the transitions between domains — how a routing choice in Payment Orchestration impacts approval rates, how the Transaction Core's state machine supports Money Operations' reconciliation, and how Risk, Trust & Vault oversee every authorization.
• Propel agentic strategy: Establish the “what” and “why” for platform features that streamline client onboarding, reducing coding efforts from provider certification to routing guidelines.
• Safeguard the stability floor: Promote a “Stop the Line” mindset for quality, ensuring a Stability Floor of highly automated quality assurance across all domains within the rail.
• Provide cross-functional leadership: Guide a high-ownership set of pods comprised of top-tier engineers across five domains, collaborating with Staff Engineers and the CTO Office to break down silos.
• Instill a YBIYRI culture: Advocate for and operationalize the YBIYRI mentality across all five domains, guaranteeing teams design for multi-tenancy, elastic scaling, and automated observability.
• Prioritize using evidence: Apply the RICE framework to transform vague, cross-domain requirements into a cohesive, structured, executable roadmap that balances architectural integrity with market opportunities.
• Strong technical foundation: In-depth understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, event-driven platforms, and contemporary software engineering practices (Cloud-native/Serverless, Kotlin/Go, gRPC/REST).
• Platform-as-a-Product expertise: Demonstrated experience in building foundational platform capabilities or complex distributed systems that encompass multiple interdependent domains — ideally in payments routing, transaction processing, settlement, or fraud/risk infrastructure.
• Mastery of execution: Proven history of enhancing delivery velocity across extensive areas, unblocking engineering teams, managing dependencies across numerous domains, and optimizing DORA metrics.
• The “Maker” mentality: Preference for clean, modular architecture over monolithic shortcuts, particularly when coordinating multiple interrelated domains.
• Commercial acumen: Capability to convey technical trade-offs (e.g., tech debt vs. feature velocity, approval rate vs. cost) to executive stakeholders and translate growth objectives into technical specifications.
• Domain knowledge: Working familiarity with payment provider integration patterns, smart routing/retry logic, transaction state machines, settlement/reconciliation, and PCI-scoped fraud and vaulting systems.
