Technical Product Manager, Artificial Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct research to identify and articulate the comprehensive requirements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, including capabilities, behaviors, and their impact on users.

• Convert model capabilities, data limitations, and evaluation outcomes into well-defined product and system decisions.

• Navigate challenging trade-offs among quality, latency, cost, reliability, and user experience (UX).

• Collaborate closely with Machine Learning (ML), backend, and mobile engineering teams on system design, assessment, and iteration.

• Establish and refine evaluation frameworks that encompass offline metrics, online experiments, and human feedback.

• Propel execution with well-defined specifications, sound judgment, and strategic prioritization.

• Guarantee that systems are deployed swiftly, securely, and reliably, ensuring robust feedback mechanisms.

• Take ownership of product quality, ensuring end-to-end correctness, predictability, and user trust.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven products, particularly those based on large language models (LLMs).

• Proven experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential.

• Familiarity with model evaluation, prompt or pipeline iterations, and feedback mechanisms.

• Strong understanding of model limitations, including hallucinations, biases, and drift.

• A solid foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and system design.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) principles and the operational behavior of modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems.

• Comfortable with reading, reviewing, and discussing technical design documents.

• Extensive experience managing intricate technical products from inception to completion.

• Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and ML teams.

• Strong judgment and decision-making skills in uncertain, rapidly changing environments.

• Ability to balance ambitious goals with practical technical and operational realities.

• Experience launching consumer products heavily reliant on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a plus.

• Background as an engineer or a highly technical product manager is advantageous.

• Experience in defining evaluation metrics for Machine Learning (ML) systems is favorable.

• Strong intuition regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) User Experience (UX) patterns and failure management is beneficial.

• Previous experience in zero-to-one product development environments is an added advantage.
