This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Define use cases and architectures for the deployment of optical interconnect and switch/router families.
• Collaborate with Sales and Systems Engineering teams to lead Engineering Test and Validation activities.
• Develop, implement, and sustain application notes and white papers.
• Construct proof-of-concept infrastructure for high-performance optical interconnect and systems.
• Create tools for deployment rules and optical configurations across DWDM technologies.
• Maintain both internal and external documentation concerning Data Center, ML/AI, and scalable deployment scenarios.
• Develop web-based tools for validating Arista product and optics configurations across various generations of switches and routers.
• Assist in technical conference demonstrations by defining configurations, setting up equipment, managing logistics, and preparing demonstration materials.
• Attend conferences as necessary to support shows.
• Write and maintain Python-based automation for testing lab instruments, test flows, and result logging.
• Set up and conduct optical/electrical tests using BERTs, power meters, spectrum analyzers, OTDRs, and oscilloscopes.
• Validate DWDM systems with single and multi-span configurations.
• Analyze testing data, identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and enhance reliability.
• Develop test procedures, troubleshooting guides, and onboarding documentation.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and operations teams to ensure test systems align with production objectives.
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Five years of experience in optical networking and DWDM design and deployment.
• Proficient understanding and analysis of DWDM signal propagation, simulation, and multi-span amplified systems.
• Strong writing and presentation capabilities.
• Practical knowledge of Ethernet, DWDM, and coherent optical technologies.
• Hands-on experience with OTDR, OSA, BERT, optical power meters, oscilloscopes, and related optical testing equipment.
• Extensive experience with traffic generators and network protocol analysis tools such as Wireshark, Ixia, and Spirent.
• Experience in system testing, scripting (Python or TCL), and/or new product introductions.
• Background in testing coherent and IMDD transponders/transceivers, optical amplifiers, optical mux/demux, and other optical system components.
• Understanding of Pre-FEC BER, OSNR, chromatic dispersion, and polarization mode dispersion.
