This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee, develop, and recruit a team of platform and infrastructure engineers, while mentoring individual contributors to continuously enhance technical standards.
• Engage in hands-on technical work — delve into code, troubleshoot systems, and collaborate with the team to tackle complex challenges.
• Take ownership of the roadmap for your domain, set ambitious objectives, and ensure consistent delivery of results.
• Construct and maintain the systems that facilitate the software development lifecycle — including build systems, CI/CD, developer tools, and deployment automation — ensuring high reliability, observability, and performance.
• Enhance the productivity of engineers and researchers by developing well-structured platform abstractions, standardizing workflows, and minimizing infrastructure friction.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, security, research, and engineering to guarantee seamless integration.
• As the team expands, there may be opportunities to broaden the scope to include cloud platform services — such as workload routing, resource optimization, and cost governance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in engineering management.
• More than 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience in managing and mentoring engineering teams.
• Track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining outstanding engineering talent.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, C++, or similar languages.
• Experience in building or managing developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or internal platform services, ideally with knowledge of both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Experience in operating critical systems that require high reliability.
• Understanding of best practices for scalable system design and operational excellence.
• Ability to dive deep into technical details while maintaining a strategic perspective on platform architecture.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering and research teams.
• Familiarity with operating critical systems that demand high reliability and availability.
