This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide technical leadership for one or more application teams, encompassing architectural direction, design guidance, engineering standards, and oversight of delivery.
• Convert intricate technical concepts, tradeoffs, and risks into straightforward language for USPS Executives and Managers.
• Collaborate with USPS Managers, BSAs, and Technical Project Leaders to define solution scope, outline technical approaches, estimate effort, and synchronize delivery plans.
• Work alongside CASI Architects and NIT leaders to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, integration patterns, security controls, and platform standards.
• Create and maintain solution designs and technical documentation, such as reference architectures, integration and data-flow diagrams, environment topology, and architecture decision records.
• Conduct and/or facilitate code reviews and technical design assessments.
• Establish and uphold development best practices, including CI/CD expectations, branching strategies, testing strategies, and operational readiness requirements.
• Identify technical risks and systemic challenges, drive root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Assist Environment Management Leads with environment provisioning, configuration, release readiness, and deployment coordination.
• Ensure solutions comply with USPS security and compliance standards.
• Stay informed about technologies, industry trends, and USPS policies and standards.
• Promote the responsible use of AI-assisted development to enhance speed and quality while minimizing rework.
• Set boundaries for secure and compliant AI usage.
• Monitor and report measurable outcomes from modernization and AI enablement initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and advocate for engineering excellence, continuous learning, and accountable delivery.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University.
• If a relevant four-year degree is not held, an additional four years of pertinent work experience is mandated.
• 8+ years of proven experience as a Technical Lead, Technical Architect, or senior engineer leading enterprise application design and delivery.
• Proficient in communicating with executive and management audiences, simplifying technical topics, presenting tradeoffs, and suggesting actionable solutions.
• Capable of guiding development teams through architectural decisions, implementation patterns, and quality expectations while remaining hands-on when needed.
• Experience in conducting code reviews and setting engineering standards for readability, testability, security, and maintainability.
• Strong knowledge of modern architectural patterns, including layered architectures, microservices/service-oriented approaches, event-driven patterns, and API-first design.
• Solid understanding of enterprise security and compliance fundamentals, including identity and access management, least privilege, encryption, audit logging, and vulnerability management.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with USPS Managers, BSAs, and Technical Project Leaders.
• Familiar with environment management and release readiness practices across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Ability to work closely with enterprise architecture and governance stakeholders, including CASI Architects and NIT leadership.
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create architecture diagrams, decision records, standards, and executive-ready summaries.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development concepts and the capability to establish secure guardrails.
• Continuous learning mindset with the ability to assess and apply new technologies within USPS standards and constraints.
• Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• Must provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility.
• U.S. residency is required.
• The selected candidate must have lived in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the past five years under the stated travel-duration conditions.
