Technical Lead – Java, AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical strategy and hands-on development of a significant Java and AWS serverless ecosystem.

• Establish engineering standards while staying closely connected to production code and resolving critical incidents.

• Lead a team of senior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x, including practical experience in migrating applications from Spring Boot 2.x to 3.x.

• Robust software engineering background, with recent experience in writing and debugging production code.

• Significant experience in designing and managing AWS serverless architectures at scale, utilizing Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS Proxy, and S3.

• Experience in overseeing architecture and the technical evolution of distributed systems consisting of multiple independently deployed services.

• Strong comprehension of serverless runtime and performance factors, including Lambda cold starts, SnapStart, connection pooling, scalability, and production troubleshooting.

• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS SAM.

• Proficient in GitLab CI/CD, including pipeline design, environment promotion, release gating, and production deployment practices.

• Experience in establishing engineering standards, leading code reviews, and mentoring senior software engineers.

• Comprehensive experience with security and dependency lifecycle management, including CVE triage, dependency/BOM strategies, secrets management, and secret rotation.

• Ability to identify and minimize architectural duplication across distributed services through shared libraries, reusable components, or platform engineering practices.

• Strong skills in production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, capable of working hands-on with engineers on high-priority incidents.

• Valued experience in taking ownership of established codebases and architectures, including transitions from other teams or vendors.

• Experience in engineering within SOC 2, regulated, or similarly controlled environments is highly regarded.

• Familiarity with identity and access management platforms such as Curity, ForgeRock, Ping Identity, Auth0, or similar is appreciated.

• Understanding of cost optimization strategies for AWS serverless workloads.

• Strong technical leadership and ownership of delivery, with accountability for technical decisions, engineering quality, and delivery commitments.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the capability to clearly explain architecture decisions, technical risks, incidents, and delivery trade-offs.

• Proficient English communication skills for effective collaboration with client stakeholders.
