Technical Lead – Cloud & Infra Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Vulnerability Remediation & Patch Management: Take ownership and manage the complete remediation process for vulnerabilities detected on Linux servers (RHEL 7/8/9), which includes operating system/package patching and configuration hardening.

• Automation, Configuration Management & Engineering: Create, improve, and sustain remediation automation utilizing Chef (including cookbooks/recipes, attributes, templates, and policy files as necessary).

• Validation, Closure & Reporting: Assess the effectiveness of remediation by re-scanning and confirming closure in Qualys (or through approved internal validation methods).

• Cross-Team Coordination & Operational Execution: Organize and facilitate remediation meetings with infrastructure support teams, application owners, and other involved parties to ensure timely execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6-10 years of substantial hands-on experience with RHEL 7/8/9/10 within enterprise settings.

• Demonstrated experience in leading vulnerability remediation and patch management efforts for Linux servers.

• Proficiency with Qualys (or similar vulnerability scanning tools), including the ability to interpret findings, validate false positives, and verify closure.

• Experience in automation using Chef and/or Ansible in a production environment.

• Strong scripting abilities: Bash, along with working knowledge of Ruby (or the capability to maintain/extend existing Ruby codebases).

• Familiarity with Linux security principles (permissions, services, SSH hardening, package management, kernel considerations).

• Experience in working with change management, incident/problem management, and coordinating efforts across various support teams.
