Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain full-stack applications utilizing React for the frontend and Python for the backend, with PostgreSQL serving as the primary database.

• Establish and deploy scalable, secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, making use of services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and CloudFront as necessary.

• Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform to ensure reproducible, version-controlled environments across development, staging, and production.

• Develop and oversee CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, and deployments.

• Embrace Test-Driven Development (TDD) by writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests prior to or alongside implementation to guarantee high code quality and reliability in releases.

• Implement Spec-Driven AI Development methodologies — crafting clear, structured specifications that assist AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to expedite implementation while preserving code quality and architectural coherence.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to convert business requirements into well-defined technical specifications.

• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and help uphold engineering best practices.

• Monitor application performance and reliability in production environments, utilizing observability tools to proactively detect and resolve issues.

• Engage in architectural decision-making, balancing scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed.

• Design and implement systems that manage Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in strict compliance with HIPAA and relevant data privacy regulations, incorporating encryption both at rest and in transit, access controls, and audit logging by default.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional software engineering experience, demonstrating ownership of production systems.

• Proficiency in React (including hooks, state management, component architecture) and Python (such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask).

• Strong background in PostgreSQL, encompassing schema design, query optimization, and migrations.

• Practical experience with AWS cloud services and best practices in cloud architecture.

• Established experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, or similar).

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Solid understanding and commitment to Test-Driven Development and automated testing practices.

• Familiarity with AI coding tools within a spec-driven workflow, with the capability to write precise, unambiguous technical specifications.

• Excellent written communication skills, essential for a remote and distributed team.

• Ability to work independently and asynchronously in a fully remote setting.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
