Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• We are seeking a Technical Lead to oversee the technical direction of enterprise Java application development for a significant banking initiative.

• This position involves hands-on leadership where you will guide a team of engineers, establish standards, and manage a considerable existing Java environment operating on enterprise application servers — all while transitioning it to a cloud-compatible, microservices architecture.

• You will serve as the technical anchor throughout the design, build, integration, and release phases, acting as a liaison between architecture, delivery teams, and business stakeholders.

• Lead the complete design and delivery process of enterprise Java applications.

• Offer practical technical leadership on IBM WebSphere / WebSphere Liberty (or a similar Java application server) environments — including deployment, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

• Establish coding standards, conduct design and code reviews, and mentor a team of engineers.

• Drive modernization efforts by breaking down monolithic/application-server workloads into Spring Boot microservices, implementing containers, and adopting CI/CD practices.

• Take ownership of non-functional quality aspects — including performance, resilience, security, scalability, and observability.

• Plan and coordinate technical delivery across SIT, UAT, and production releases; manage technical risks and dependencies effectively.

• Collaborate with enterprise architects, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and vendors.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in enterprise Java application development, with a proven track record in leading teams and project delivery.

• Extensive hands-on knowledge of IBM WebSphere and/or WebSphere Liberty (or a comparable Java application server platform such as JBoss/WildFly or WebLogic).

• Strong proficiency in core Java and Spring / Spring Boot; familiarity with enterprise integration patterns (JMS/MQ, REST, SOAP).

• A solid foundation in application architecture, performance tuning, and production support at scale.

• Experience with CI/CD, containers (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift), and modern engineering practices.

• Demonstrated ability to lead the modernization of legacy Java workloads.
