This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Lead and guide Epic analysts, developers, and configuration teams across designated Epic modules.
• Act as the main technical and functional escalation contact for development issues related to Epic.
• Establish and uphold Epic development standards, build guidelines, and governance procedures.
• Collaborate with Informatics, Clinical Leadership, and IT leadership to ensure Epic development aligns with organizational strategy.
• Contribute to planning for the Epic roadmap, optimization efforts, and system upgrades.
• Supervise the build, configuration, and customization of Epic applications across assigned modules.
• Ensure that Epic development complies with best practices, security protocols, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMS, and Joint Commission standards.
• Review and authorize design specifications, build documentation, and change requests.
• Lead intricate Epic enhancements, workflows, and clinical decision support development.
• Direct the development and support of Epic integrations utilizing HL7, FHIR, Bridges, Interconnect, and APIs.
• Work in partnership with interface and infrastructure teams to guarantee reliable data exchange and system performance.
• Assist with unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing.
• Oversee Epic upgrades, patches, and special updates.
• Translate clinical and operational needs into technical solutions within Epic.
• Facilitate design sessions and workflow evaluations with clinicians and business partners.
• Communicate risks, timelines, and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support go-live events, stabilization efforts, and post-implementation optimization.
• Monitor system performance, data integrity, and user adoption metrics.
• Ensure Epic configurations prioritize patient safety, clinical quality, and reporting obligations.
• Identify opportunities for workflow automation, standardization, and optimization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Over 7 years of experience with Epic EHR, including hands-on build and configuration.
• More than 3 years in a lead, senior analyst, or supervisory position supporting Epic systems.
• Active Epic certification(s) in one or more Epic modules.
• Strong comprehension of healthcare clinical workflows and operations.
• Proven experience leading complex Epic projects or large-scale implementations.
• Experience in critical thinking and problem-solving within a large matrixed organization with diverse healthcare delivery teams.
• Background in presenting and resolving issues with senior leadership.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Preferred: Multiple Epic certifications across clinical and/or revenue cycle modules.
• Preferred: Experience with Epic upgrades, re-implementations, or enterprise optimizations.
• Preferred: Knowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD, APIs).
• Preferred: Experience in an academic medical center or large integrated delivery network.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or ITIL methodologies.
