This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of delivering and ensuring operational excellence of modern data platforms, including streaming, data lakes, and analytics for various customer accounts.
• Convert business and technical requirements into actionable Epics, Stories, and Tasks that enhance customer data platforms while adhering to phData methodologies and best practices.
• Guarantee timely delivery of engagements that stay within scope and budget, with well-defined measures of success and value for customers.
• Inspire and lead client technical teams, offering hands-on technical guidance for the design, implementation, and continuous operational support of cloud data platforms.
• Provide leadership during significant incidents, ensuring effective coordination, communication, escalation, and follow-through until resolution, including root cause analysis and remediation.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners such as architects, engineers, and site reliability/operations teams in the US and India to ensure successful client engagements and smooth transitions across time zones.
• Build strong relationships with sponsors and stakeholders, keeping them updated on progress and results, facilitating leadership discussions, and identifying opportunities to enhance the value of our services.
• Ensure teams are well-prepared to deliver by promoting accurate process documentation, transparent communication, and ongoing readiness for production operations.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels across accounts, balancing delivery between US and India team members to support uninterrupted delivery and high customer satisfaction.
• Provide feedback and foster improvements to our Managed Services offerings through process optimization, knowledge sharing, and the development of accelerators and reusable assets.
• Advocate for phData’s core values and cultivate a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within delivery teams.
• Contribute to the advancement of best practices for incident management, change management, and operations of modern data platforms across multiple customers.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders (Director and VP level), influencing cloud data platform roadmaps and strategic decisions regarding data and analytics operations.
• Mentor and coach architects, engineers, and operations team members, supporting their technical development and delivery capabilities in large, complex environments.
• Help shape and refine Managed Services standards, playbooks, and frameworks to enable scalable growth across a wide customer base.
• Over 5 years of experience in technical management, IT architecture, customer relationship management, project management, and/or delivery management, preferably in data, analytics, or infrastructure operations.
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
• Technical proficiency in deploying and managing modern cloud data technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow, Redshift, Matillion, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Qlik, StreamSets, NiFi, Cloudera, Coalesce, and EMR (not all are mandatory, but familiarity with several is expected).
• Experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or production support, including managing modern data platforms or data warehouses for various customers of different sizes.
• Proven experience leading technical operations teams through multiple large or complex projects, including backlog creation (Epics, Stories, Tasks), prioritization, and delegation.
• Background in scoping and planning large-scale, complex technology infrastructure or modern data platform initiatives.
• Demonstrated ownership of incident and escalation processes, including coordination among technical teams, end-users, and stakeholders through resolution, root cause analysis, and remediation.
• Regular daily use of AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) with clear judgment on when to trust, verify, and correct AI-generated outputs.
• Ability to articulate specific engineering tasks completed with AI assistance.
• Experience delivering services to external or internal customers in a professional services, managed services, or similar client-facing setting, with direct interaction with global customers and business partners.
• Capability to confidently engage with Director and VP level stakeholders, guiding discussions, building relationships, and communicating complex technical information in accessible formats (written, verbal, and formal presentations).
• Proven success in coordinating across technical teams managing IT infrastructure services or modern data platforms for multiple clients concurrently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams across different regions (e.g., US, LATAM, and/or India) and time zones.
• Strong leadership abilities with a professional history of creating, challenging, and enhancing processes and procedures.
• Highly organized, strategic thinker, and effective problem-solver skilled at managing multiple priorities and accounts simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work across time zones as required to support global teams and customers.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (degree preferred but not mandatory).
