This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Take charge of and oversee the complete art pipeline from the creation of content to its implementation in the engine.
• Set up technical art standards, workflows, documentation, and best practices for both internal and external teams.
• Create tools, automation systems, and workflows that enhance artist productivity and the scalability of content.
• Collaborate with Engineering to address technical challenges related to rendering, performance, asset management, and content integration.
• Work alongside the Art Director to align artistic objectives with technical limitations and production realities.
• Act as the primary resource for VFX during the prototype and early production stages.
• Design, implement, and refine real-time visual effects utilizing Niagara.
• Establish and sustain lighting setups that support gameplay, atmosphere, mood, and storytelling goals.
• Assist in material creation, shader implementation, and sophisticated Unreal Engine rendering workflows.
• Analyze and optimize art content to achieve performance benchmarks across supported platforms.
• Coordinate with external vendors to ensure that assets are properly integrated into production pipelines and adhere to technical standards.
• Evaluate incoming content and offer guidance on optimization, implementation, and technical quality.
• Over 7 years of experience in roles such as Lead Technical Artist, Principal Technical Artist, or Expert Technical Artist on shipped AAA or AA titles.
• Profound expertise in Unreal Engine 5 content pipelines and technical art workflows.
• Strong skills in Niagara and real-time VFX creation.
• Experience in creating and optimizing intricate visual effects for gameplay and environmental uses.
• Solid understanding of lighting principles, atmospheric lighting, and real-time rendering workflows.
• Familiarity with modern rendering technologies, including Lumen and related UE5 systems.
• Proficient in materials, shaders, asset optimization, and performance profiling.
• Experience in developing tools and pipeline automation solutions.
• Proficient with Python, Blueprint scripting, or similar tools for pipeline development.
• Actively engaged with AI-assisted tools in the technical art pipeline, such as Substance AI, AI-driven VFX workflows, or automation tools.
• Comfortable working with AI tooling.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across Art, Engineering, Design, and Production teams.
• Experience in supporting external development partners and outsourced content pipelines.
• Preferred experience working on horror, action, dark fantasy, or atmospheric titles.
• Preferred experience supporting large-scale external art organizations and vendor ecosystems.
• Familiarity with console performance optimization workflows is preferred.
• Preferred experience in creating procedural workflows and content generation pipelines.
• Knowledge of asset streaming, memory management, and platform-specific optimization techniques is preferred.
• Previous experience in establishing pipelines and standards for new projects or studios is preferred.
