This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Rapidly develops a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s current IT framework, business operations, ongoing technology enhancement initiatives, and future objectives.
• Performs workflow analysis, technology evaluations, and business-related research to establish business case plans and architectural strategies that promote long-term sustainability and growth.
• Collaborates with stakeholders and takes a lead role in defining solutions that meet business requirements.
• Creates system design documentation for both the current and future states of the application.
• Engages with internal and external partners to outline interfaces, data exchange methods, and data structures essential for the solution.
• Converts high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and collaborates with other engineering disciplines to create detailed implementation requirements.
• Develops systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definitions, while defining the system implementation approach and operational concept. Creates models and architectural guidelines for current and future system developments.
• Author key architecture documents for existing or new products to establish a baseline of technical reference and expertise.
• Offers guidance and strategy for the adoption of new technology products and processes, enhancing developer, customer, and end-user experiences.
• Updates technology roadmaps to align with broader organizational strategies and vision as necessary.
• Conducts trade-off analyses on applications when required.
• Establishes a trusted advisory relationship with various stakeholders.
• Clearly articulates and defends personal/team dissenting opinions with professionalism and diplomacy.
• Proactively and insightfully reports/document the delivery of value.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or a related scientific/technical field.
• Over 15 years of experience. An additional 10 years of relevant experience may substitute for educational qualifications.
• Mature written, oral, and visual communication skills, with sensitivity to the perspectives, limitations, and needs of diverse audiences.
• Proven experience in application architecture.
• Ability to distill, optimize, and simplify complex concepts, diagrams, and reports for various audiences.
• Established knowledge of the technology and application landscape at the VA.
• Experience designing scalable, resilient, and highly responsive enterprise applications.
• Proficient in creating solution blueprints and future state processes.
• Well-versed in DevSecOps culture, processes, metrics, and tools.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Solid experience with Microsoft and other collaborative tools including Teams, SharePoint, Jira, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in a remote work setting.
