Technical Architect – Appian, Salesforce Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead customer discovery and convert business and mission requirements into solution architectures, technical designs, and implementation strategies.

• Evaluate existing applications, workflows, data, integrations, infrastructure, and modernization limitations.

• Design and construct enterprise applications utilizing Appian, Salesforce, traditional software technologies, cloud-native services, or hybrid solutions.

• Make decisions regarding build-versus-platform based on business needs, platform capabilities, scalability, security, maintainability, and cost considerations.

• Create designs for application components, process workflows, data models, APIs, integrations, identity controls, and deployment methodologies.

• Employ AI-assisted development tools to assess applications and produce code, tests, documentation, designs, and modernization artifacts.

• Personally develop essential application components, integrations, APIs, prototypes, and reusable architectural patterns.

• Review, test, refine, and validate AI-generated code and technical artifacts prior to production release.

• Guide delivery teams through the processes of implementation, testing, deployment, production stabilization, and ongoing support.

• Communicate architectural decisions, risks, and technical trade-offs to customers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Capability to secure and maintain the necessary federal suitability or security clearance.

• Over 10 years of experience in software development, application architecture, solution architecture, or technical delivery.

• Proven ownership of a significant application from requirements and design through to production deployment and ongoing support.

• Strong hands-on engineering expertise in Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar enterprise technologies.

• Hands-on experience in constructing and deploying production applications using Appian and/or Salesforce in a large enterprise setting.

• Background in designing APIs, integrations, distributed systems, data solutions, and secure enterprise applications.

• Experience with integrating Appian or Salesforce applications with custom software, databases, identity providers, cloud services, and external APIs.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, automated testing, security tools, and production observability.

• Practical experience using AI tools for generating, refactoring, testing, documenting, or analyzing production software, with disciplined human validation.

• Strong skills in customer-facing discovery, consulting, communication, technical leadership, and problem-solving.

• Production application development experience with both Appian and Salesforce is preferred.

• Appian certification and experience with process models, records, interfaces, expression rules, integrations, security, and deployment are preferred.

• Experience with Salesforce technologies such as Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, platform events, APIs, data architecture, or application security is preferred.

• Knowledge of when to leverage enterprise platform capabilities versus custom Java, .NET, Python, or cloud-native development is preferred.

• Federal consulting experience and familiarity with FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, or zero-trust principles is preferred.

• Experience with AI coding agents, agentic workflows, MCP, automated evaluation, guardrails, or AI development governance is preferred.
