Technical Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and document technical accounting roles related to complex or non-routine transactions.

• Prepare accounting memos and position papers in accordance with IFRS, including matters related to IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IFRS 2, and IAS 36.

• Keep track of new and revised IFRS pronouncements, evaluate their impact on the business, and spearhead implementation efforts.

• Collaborate with Legal, Sales, and Product teams to review new contract structures and provide guidance on accounting implications.

• Review and uphold technical accounting policies across all legal entities.

• Act as the primary contact for auditors regarding technical accounting issues and intricate judgments.

• Assist with M&A due diligence and purchase accounting as necessary.

• Work closely with the Assistant Controller to apply technical positions during the financial close process.

• Offer technical accounting training and support to the wider accounting team.

• Serve as the primary IFRS resource for complex, non-routine transactions.

• Maintain ownership of Solink's accounting policy manual.

• Help ensure a smooth and efficient annual audit while preparing for changes in accounting that may affect financial reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA or CA certification required, or currently in progress.

• 3–5 years of experience in accounting.

• Experience in public accounting, particularly with Big 4 or large regional firms, is strongly preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 15 revenue recognition and other areas requiring significant judgment.

• Proficient in utilizing AI tools for research and drafting initial memos, with a commitment to thorough review and professional judgment.

• Experience with multi-element or bundled revenue arrangements; familiarity with hardware/software combined offerings is a strong advantage.

• Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to create clear, well-supported accounting memos.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of explaining technical concepts to stakeholders without an accounting background.

• Exposure to IFRS reporting.

• Experience collaborating directly with external auditors on complex accounting issues.

• Background in a hardware-enabled SaaS or a similarly intricate revenue environment.

• Familiarity with multi-entity, multi-currency reporting structures.

• Proven experience leading projects for the implementation of new accounting standards.

• Candidates will need to undergo a criminal background check upon hiring.

• Must be a Canadian citizen, including dual citizens, or eligible to work in Canada.
