This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +27 more states.
• Lead a Site Reliability team comprising 3–4 members, serving as both a technical and people leader.
• Engage directly in SRE and platform initiatives, incident management, infrastructure automation, and tooling development.
• Take ownership of technical debt and drive infrastructure modernization efforts within the team's area of responsibility.
• Maintain a comprehensive technical understanding of observability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure projects.
• Manage reliability and performance metrics, assess incident response effectiveness, and promote platform tool adoption.
• Steer technical direction through system design, architectural guidance, hands-on code reviews, and critical technical decisions.
• Oversee career development, performance evaluations, recruitment, and team well-being.
• Shape and implement Agile Scrum or Kanban development methodologies in collaboration with engineering leadership.
• Balance the urgency of delivery with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Exemplify AI-assisted development practices.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to enhance response times and minimize repetitive notifications.
• Drive technical decisions, architectural strategies, process advancements, and milestones for preventing technical issues.
• Strong, current hands-on experience in software engineering, including regular coding and code review activities.
• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in platform engineering, incorporating principles of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering.
• Previous experience in taking charge of technical direction or managing people, with a willingness to assume both roles.
• Comfortable operating in a setting without a designated Tech Lead.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and platforms such as AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), kops, HashiCorp Vault, Grafana, GitHub Actions, Postgres, Kafka/MSK, Redis/Valkey, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of contemporary microservice-based architectures and methodologies.
• Experience with Golang, TypeScript, and React is an advantage.
• Proficiency or strong inclination towards AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Proven ability to make pragmatic technical trade-offs under the pressure of delivery timelines.
• Familiarity with or willingness to evolve agile/Scrum-based team processes.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration.
