Tech Architect, Lead Developer – .NET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and actively construct the new ASP.NET Core / C# online banking platform, encompassing system design, service boundaries, data modeling, and API contracts.

• Create and implement essential features and components of the platform; lead code and design reviews while establishing high technical standards.

• Guide and mentor a small agile team by managing sprints, removing obstacles for engineers, overseeing delivery commitments, and providing coaching through one-on-one sessions and pair programming.

• Collaborate with technology leaders from the Finance Group, product teams, QA, and security to convert business and regulatory requirements into robust solutions.

• Work alongside the Embrace Technology group on shared architecture, cloud, and CI/CD standards, as well as with Venture Labs / Embrace AI Group to integrate AI capabilities (AI-assisted development, predictive insights, fraud/risk monitoring) into the platform.

• Promote engineering best practices such as testing, CI/CD, and the adoption of modern AI development tools.

• Function as a forward-deployed engineer by integrating with internal product partners to co-design solutions, then swiftly conceptualizing, prototyping, and launching new products, reducing concept-to-production timelines from quarters to weeks.

• Oversee end-to-end AI-first new product development - design and deploy capabilities powered by LLMs and agents using services such as Google Vertex AI / Gemini, OpenAI (and Azure OpenAI), and orchestration frameworks like LangChain, while maintaining disciplined evaluation, guardrails, and management of costs and latency.

• Develop full-stack and real-time solutions featuring modern, accessible UX/UI, public REST APIs, and live experiences through SignalR on the .NET Core / C# control plane, along with event-driven services utilizing Azure Service Bus and messaging.

• Take ownership of the cloud and delivery infrastructure, employing infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, CI/CD on GitHub (Actions), and repeatable containerized deployments across Azure and/or AWS.

• Design security and compliance from the start, incorporating identity and access management (OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO, MFA), secrets management, and data protection in alignment with PCI DSS, SOC 2, and FFIEC, ensuring auditability from day one.

• Build and empower the team by recruiting, coaching, and removing barriers for a small group of progressive FDEs, providing them with the autonomy, tools, and technical standards to deliver safely and efficiently.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing modern, data-intensive .NET web applications, with a proven track record as a tech lead or lead developer and direct team ownership.

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages.

• Advanced knowledge of C# and .NET (both Framework and modern .NET / Core); strong SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server; substantial REST API experience at scale.

• Demonstrated experience in the financial services or online banking sector, with a strong preference for platforms serving U.S. banks, credit unions, or other regulated financial institutions.

• Front-end experience with contemporary JavaScript/UI frameworks such as Angular or React.

• Familiarity with traditional frameworks like ASP.NET, Razor templates, Htmx, Bootstrap, Orchard Core, etc., is a significant advantage for modernization efforts.

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), DevOps practices, and CI/CD; a solid understanding of U.S. banking security and compliance standards (PCI DSS, SOC 2, FFIEC guidance).

• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with both engineering and business stakeholders (Finance Group, Embrace Technology, Venture Labs); excellent problem-solving and ownership abilities.

• Comfortable working in a highly remote, fast-paced, and agile environment.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven ability to deliver products from concept to reality at speed - ideally in a forward-deployed, customer-embedded, or startup/venture setting.

• Practical experience with AI/LLM application development - including prompt and context engineering, RAG, and agentic patterns on at least one major platform (Vertex AI / Gemini, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI) alongside orchestration tools such as LangChain and a pragmatic understanding of evaluation, guardrails, and cost management.

• Proficient in real-time and event-driven solutions - SignalR, Azure Service Bus or equivalent messaging systems - and designing public REST APIs at scale.

• Strong expertise in platform and DevOps practices - Terraform (IaC), GitHub Actions CI/CD, containerization, and multi-cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS).

• In-depth knowledge of identity, security, and compliance protocols for regulated financial institutions - IAM / OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO / MFA, secrets management, and PCI DSS / SOC 2 / FFIEC standards.
