Team Lead, Testimonials

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +33 more states.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the Testimonials platform from start to finish, encompassing architecture, code quality, infrastructure, and production reliability.

• Manage and enhance the Kubernetes-based deployment, focusing on scaling, observability, cost efficiency, and release processes.

• Make and document architectural decisions effectively.

• Keep operational documentation current and improve it as necessary.

• Oversee daily delivery for the Testimonials team, including defining scope, sequencing tasks, and executing against the product roadmap.

• Collaborate with Product on trade-offs in the roadmap, assess technical feasibility, and plan releases.

• Establish engineering standards through code and design reviews, as well as mentorship.

• Lead a small team of engineers, fostering their technical growth and ownership.

• Manage the engineering workstream for SOC 2 compliance, which includes access management, audit evidence, change control, and secure development practices.

• Work together with InfoSec and Compliance on controls for a product in a regulated industry.

• Develop features that are compliant-aware.

• Lead the integration of Testimonials with the broader FMG platform, ensuring shared identity, data, and adjacent business systems are aligned.

• Collaborate with FMG's AI Architecture team to introduce agentic and AI-assisted capabilities into the Testimonials experience.

• Embrace AI-native development tools and standards while contributing effective practices back to the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including senior or lead technical ownership of a production SaaS product.

• Strong hands-on experience managing services on Kubernetes, covering deployment, observability, and production troubleshooting.

• Proven track record of end-to-end ownership of a codebase.

• Experience leading a small team or workstream, establishing standards, reviewing work, and mentoring other engineers.

• Ability to partner directly with Product on roadmaps and trade-offs.

• Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.

• History of reliable shipping in a small-team setting while managing multiple disciplines.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and changing scopes in a fast-paced environment.

• Preferred: Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance certifications.

• Preferred: Background in wealth management, insurance, or other regulated financial services software.

• Preferred: Experience in integrating an acquired product into a larger platform.

• Preferred: Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic development tools.

• Preferred: Experience with review, reputation, or content moderation products.

• Preferred: Familiarity with CI/CD practices, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tools such as DataDog or CloudWatch.
