This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Execute daily accounting tasks associated with program operations.
• Prepare and report necessary payroll taxes and tax documentation.
• Record journal entries and conduct reconciliations.
• Manage monthly bookkeeping and reconcile general ledger accounts with billing records, tax reports, and bank statements.
• Investigate state-specific regulations regarding employer and worker tax enrollment.
• Create procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Register Palco with state and federal agencies to establish individuals as new employers and facilitate timely tax and labor reporting.
• Keep clients' tax accounts compliant and in good standing.
• Supervise the establishment of individuals as employers of record with state and federal authorities.
• Oversee the management of appointment of agent letters and tax identification number assignments.
• Research, compile, and devise procedures for new state-entity tax reporting processes.
• Submit tax deposits and reports, including SUTA, state income tax reports and reconciliations, IRS Forms 941 and 940, W-2, W-3, 1099, and 1096.
• Ensure timely payments of taxes, garnishments, and other liabilities.
• Reconcile workers' compensation policies and provide information for annual insurance carrier audits.
• Generate projections for budgetary estimates related to workers' compensation and other tax expenses.
• Assist with audits, reviews, year-end closeouts, tax report preparation, and various accounting projects.
• Create accounting-related reports as necessary.
• Document accounting processes and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial records.
• Suggest improvements to existing processes.
• Conduct periodic reviews of data quality.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or processing.
• Proficient understanding of payroll, payroll taxes, general ledgers, and accounting or bookkeeping practices.
• Competent in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• General computer proficiency.
• Capability to analyze data, interpret regulations, derive logical conclusions, and implement solutions to distinct situations.
• Ability to take ownership of processes.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with effective listening abilities.
• A 4-year college degree in a business-related field is preferred; candidates with accounting majors are favored.
