This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee designated aspects of U.S. federal income tax compliance, which encompasses return schedules, estimated tax payment calculations, and relevant workpapers.
• Facilitate data gathering and resolution of issues in collaboration with Tax, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, business partners, and external service providers.
• Prepare and review specific domestic elements of Amgen’s income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.
• Assist with current-year and extended tax rate forecasts, provision-to-return analyses, along with explanations for balance sheets and cash flows.
• Aid in the evaluation of assigned state income tax returns and the associated apportionment data.
• Review selected U.S. business license and annual report filings as necessary.
• Support federal and state tax audits by collecting documentation, drafting responses, and monitoring information requests.
• Maintain tax reporting documentation assigned to you and assist in gathering entity and other information required for global reporting.
• Identify and execute process enhancements through automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools.
• Evaluate domestic tax compliance work created by the Internal Delivery Tax Team and offer constructive feedback.
• Facilitate the transition of specific compliance tasks through documentation, training, and handoffs.
• Investigate technical tax matters and undertake special projects as required.
• Report directly to the Director of Tax Reporting.
• Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree with 2 years of accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of accounting or finance experience OR Associate’s degree with 8 years of accounting or finance experience OR High school diploma / GED with 10 years of accounting or finance experience.
• CPA license is preferred.
• At least five years of experience in public accounting or a corporate tax role within a large multinational organization.
• Proficient understanding of U.S. federal and state income tax laws and regulations.
• Experience in preparing or reviewing federal income tax returns and associated compliance workpapers, including consolidated return experience.
• Familiarity with ASC 740 income tax accounting, covering deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, and tax provision support.
• Experience with OneSource Income Tax Compliance and Tax Provision software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise systems.
• Experience applying automation, data analytics, or AI-enabled tools to enhance tax processes, with sound judgment regarding data quality, controls, and reviews.
• Background in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other complex multinational sectors.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and effectively collaborate across functions, global locations, and time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Sound judgment and a strong commitment to quality and accountability.
