Tax Research & QA Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Investigate modifications to tax forms

• Analyze updates to tax codes and regulations that influence changes in tax forms

• Record changes and supply requirements to tax programmers

• Create and implement test cases to ensure proper execution of tax law updates

• Develop test scenarios for jurisdiction approval of both paper and electronically filed tax forms

• Assess tax return calculations for precision, consistency, and usability

• Contribute to release notes, technical documentation, and customer-facing instructions

• Produce and revise documentation that supports processes and tools

• Collaborate remotely with seasoned tax and software experts throughout the annual production cycle

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Taxation, Information Technology/Management, or a related field

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

• Capability to pose insightful questions and accurately document findings

• Team-oriented, responsive, and eager to learn from colleagues across various functions

• Flexible and comfortable with changing priorities, evolving processes, and shifting project demands

• Proficient in using AI-assisted tools responsibly while acknowledging their limitations and verifying results against trustworthy sources

• Skilled in Microsoft products

• Familiarity with advanced Excel formulas, data validation, or spreadsheet analysis is an advantage

• Comfortable reviewing comprehensive requirements, test cases, and technical documentation

• Interested in or exposed to tax software or tax research applications is a plus

• Prior experience in tax, software, or tax software is not mandatory

• Must reside in the United States

• Not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, TN, E-3) now or in the future

• Available Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 32 hours per week
