Tax Preparer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Prepare individual federal and state income tax returns.

• Gather and assess tax documents provided by clients.

• Accurately input tax information into specialized tax preparation software.

• Examine completed returns for accuracy and completeness.

• Liaise with clients regarding any missing or additional paperwork.

• Maintain well-organized and precise client records.

• Safeguard confidential taxpayer and financial information.

• Adhere to relevant IRS regulations and due diligence standards.

• Fulfill necessary training and compliance obligations.

• Ensure professional communication with clients and team members.

• Provide outstanding customer service and foster enduring client relationships.

• Meet set deadlines during the tax season.

• Engage in mandatory training and ongoing education.

• Promote tax preparation services and expand the client base through networking, referrals, and community engagement.

• Develop a portfolio of business by cultivating long-term relationships with returning clients.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.

• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Ability to manage confidential financial information responsibly.

• Previous experience in tax preparation or financial services is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Must possess an active IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) or be prepared to obtain one prior to preparing tax returns.

• Must successfully complete required tax preparation training before preparing client returns.
