Tax & Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage all functions and research related to payroll tax.

• Execute necessary tasks to oversee and monitor the company's payroll tax operations through a third-party vendor.

• Process biweekly and off-cycle payrolls across multiple states using a third-party vendor.

• Maintain existing tax accounts, register new tax accounts, close inactive accounts, and manage Power of Attorney (POA) and Tax Professional Agent (TPA) assignments.

• Create and oversee tax cases with the payroll vendor.

• Keep SUI rates current and updated.

• Collaborate with federal, state, and local tax agencies or internal teams on tax inquiries, audit requests, reporting, and detailed analysis.

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, reconciliations, and reporting, working closely with Accounting to ensure accurate payroll reporting to the General Ledger.

• Process garnishments, tax levies, and child support orders while managing agency correspondence.

• Play a crucial role in year-end reconciliation and preparation of W-2 and W-2C forms.

• Complete the annual California Pay Data Reporting and assist with 401(k) and Workers' Compensation audits.

• Review timesheets to ensure accuracy and completeness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of recent experience in processing full cycle payroll and managing payroll tax with a third-party vendor.

• Extensive practical experience with payroll processing in Workday Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance.

• Knowledge of payroll practices, processes, and relevant regulatory requirements, including reciprocity and local tax rules, particularly for Pennsylvania and Ohio.

• Must possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and meet deadlines effectively.

• Proficiency in Excel, including the use of V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Payroll and Payroll Tax.
