Systems Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Integrate and manage Justride SDKs on embedded and hardware-enabled devices.

• Oversee fare media validation, NFC and contactless EMV taps, and barcode payloads.

• Develop and sustain features in the Android point of sale application.

• Integrate card readers, NFC readers, and printers.

• Create and maintain on-device services and integration proxies that connect to GPS and AVL systems.

• Contribute to cloud services that support devices, including remote configuration and software updates.

• Write clean, thoroughly tested code.

• Participate in code reviews, CI pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and releases.

• Troubleshoot device and cloud issues using logs, metrics, and lab hardware.

• Engage in feature refinement and technical discussions.

• Shape technical solutions and support team outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Located in India.

• Proof of the right to work in India is required.

• B2 or higher level of English proficiency.

• Clear and confident communication in both written and spoken English.

• A minimum of 2 years of commercial software engineering experience.

• Strong programming skills in at least one language, with a willingness to learn others.

• Comfortable working across the technology stack, from cloud services to device-level issues.

• Experience in building or managing services on AWS or another major cloud platform.

• Knowledge of unit, integration, and contract testing, Git workflows, CI/CD, and Docker.

• Ability to navigate ambiguous problems and seek assistance when necessary.

• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

• Willingness to work a shifted pattern that aligns with UK working hours as much as possible.
