Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design and implement real-time automation controls and information solutions.

• Develop innovative solutions during the project's design phase.

• Program, troubleshoot, and test various systems.

• Produce project engineering notes, proposals, design traceability documents, case studies, and additional documentation.

• Deploy new solutions at client locations and pinpoint areas for improvement.

• Establish methodologies and address complex challenges.

• Acquire knowledge of new technologies.

• Guide colleagues by sharing relevant expertise and insights.

• Create real-time automation solutions from the manufacturing floor to the enterprise level.

• Engage in PLC and PAC programming, HMI application design, SCADA design, network architecture, database design, and vision system design.

• Collaborate with clients to address manufacturing and industrial information challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successful or anticipated completion of a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering Technology degree.

• Academic or practical experience with some or all of the technologies listed.

• Proficiency in PLC/PAC programming, HMI, SCADA, networking, databases, vision systems, or related automation technologies.

• Detail-oriented, conscientious, analytical, focused, self-motivated individual with a quick learning ability.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.

• Full-time access to a personal vehicle.

• Must reside in Central Virginia or Maryland.

• Willingness to travel 30–50% in VA, MD, PA, NJ, and DE.

• The employee will be associated with and report to Grantek’s Richmond, VA office.

• Experience in the food and beverage or life sciences sectors is preferred.

• Familiarity with DeviceNet, ControlNet, DH+, Remote IO, or Modbus is preferred but not required.

• Experience with Python, Historian (PI System), and databases is an advantage.
