This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the health, performance, and availability of Linux and Windows servers hosted on AWS, addressing alerts and troubleshooting issues proactively to prevent operational disruptions.
• Conduct routine system administration activities, which include patch management, software updates, vulnerability remediation, and system maintenance tasks.
• Strengthen servers and applications in compliance with DISA STIG guidelines, ensuring adherence to DoD cybersecurity standards and maintaining secure system baselines.
• Analyze vulnerability scan results, formulate remediation strategies and POA&Ms (Plans of Action and Milestones), and collaborate with technical teams to implement corrective measures.
• Assist in Risk Management Framework (RMF) initiatives by gathering compliance evidence, documenting security controls, and aiding in the maintenance of authorization requirements.
• Oversee user account management, permissions, and access controls, ensuring appropriate system access while following established security protocols.
• Uphold configuration management standards by verifying server setups, documenting changes, and ensuring systems remain compliant with authorized baselines.
• Resolve hardware, software, and interoperability challenges, collaborating with engineers and cybersecurity professionals to swiftly address incidents and reduce mission impact.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery protocols, contributing to system resilience and the continuity of operations.
• Develop and revise technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles to promote operational consistency and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Engage regularly with Air Force stakeholders, cybersecurity teams, cloud engineers, and system administrators to bolster continuous monitoring, infrastructure modernization efforts, and mission success.
• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. *(A high school diploma combined with 7 years of experience in Linux system administration may substitute for the degree)
• At least 3 years of experience managing Linux enterprise IT systems.
• Demonstrated experience as a System Administrator within an AWS environment.
• Practical experience supporting IT environments for the Department of War (DoW) or the U.S. Air Force.
• Proficiency in administering Linux operating systems (AWS Linux, Ubuntu) along with Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Extensive experience in hardening servers and applications according to DISA STIGs.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manipulate operating system components and enhance performance.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must fulfill DoD 8140 qualification standards. (e.g., Security + CE)
• An active Secret security clearance is required.
