Junior Linux Systems Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, monitor, and maintain Debian-based Linux systems in live production environments

• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure primarily utilizing AWS

• Develop and sustain infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CDK

• Create and maintain Bash or Python scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance system reliability

• Ensure optimal system performance, availability, and security

• Quickly address incidents and troubleshoot issues as they arise

• Configure and oversee monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch

• Provide support for containerized environments and orchestration tools including Docker, ECS, EKS, and Fargate

• Collaborate with engineering and development teams on CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

• Keep documentation up to date and manage version control using Git

• Adhere to best practices in infrastructure and operations

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience as a Linux System Administrator or in a comparable position

• Demonstrated experience managing Debian Linux distributions in production settings

• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch

• Practical experience with Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CDK

• Proficient in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages

• Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, DNS, and load balancers

• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using EKS, Docker, ECS, or Fargate is advantageous

• Comfortable utilizing Git and other version control systems

• Experience with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions is preferred

• Knowledge of high availability and failover strategies in cloud environments is preferred

• Exposure to compliance standards such as HIPAA or SOC 2 is a plus

• Full professional proficiency in communication and documentation skills

• Availability during standard US business hours (9am-5pm EST or 8:30am-4:30pm EST)
