System Engineer – Cloud Platform, OpenStack, VMware

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Operate and maintain cloud platforms that cater to multiple tenants, utilizing OpenStack and VMware.

• Develop and integrate networking, firewall, storage, and computing components.

• Undertake lifecycle management tasks, including monitoring, patching, firmware updates, and configuration modifications.

• Provision and set up customer-specific environments within a shared platform.

• Execute, configure, and document migrations to the shared cloud environment.

• Implement customer-specific Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements, backup objectives, and security configurations.

• Manage and monitor centralized platform backups using tools such as Veeam, Commvault, and Rubrik.

• Contribute to incident, change, and problem management processes at both tenant and platform levels.

• Provide support for housing operations, including assistance for customer-owned hardware, Remote Hands, and operational monitoring.

• Utilize monitoring and event handling to ensure adherence to SLAs and operational standards.

• Participate in the team's on-call rotation.

• Automate recurring operational tasks.

• Create and sustain operational documentation, runbooks, and configurations.

• Experience and expertise suitable for a role ranging from entry-level to senior positions.

• Proficiency in and familiarity with OpenStack and VMware.

• Understanding of operating multi-tenant cloud platforms.

• Readiness to engage in the team's on-call rotation.
