System Engineer – Bare Metal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile.

📋 Description

• Oversee and support essential infrastructure systems with extensive expertise in Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred).

• Work closely with hardware: BIOS, IPMI, RAID configurations, and hardware-level diagnostics should be within your skill set.

• Design and maintain scalable network solutions utilizing VLANs, L2/L3 routing, VPNs, and particularly UniFi equipment.

• Automate infrastructure setup and operations using Ansible, Bash/Python, and Git-based workflows.

• Establish and manage observability stacks, including Prometheus/Grafana for metrics and Graylog, ELK, or Loki for log centralization.

• Develop tools for server discovery, configuration auto-generation, automated OS installations, PXE/Preseed/Cloud-init, and robust MAAS-based provisioning.

• Integrate and/or create internal APIs for monitoring compute and GPU resource allocation, as well as external APIs (billing, monitoring, OpenStack, etc.).

• Deploy and maintain virtualization and orchestration platforms such as OpenStack (preferably with Kolla-Ansible), Proxmox VE, or VMware ESXi.

• Support container-based workloads and efficiently isolate services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in Linux administration (preferably Debian/Ubuntu).

• Strong experience with MAAS / Ironic / bare-metal automation (mandatory).

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, VPNs.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Ansible), scripting (Bash/Python), and GitOps.

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Graylog.

• Comfortable with custom deployment automation (PXE, Preseed, MAAS/Ironic).

• Knowledge of resource tracking, API integrations, and dashboard development.

• Demonstrable experience with OpenStack, Proxmox, VMware, and container orchestration.
