Synthetic / Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Craft complex single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate the accuracy of response handling.

• Develop reference answers that clarify correct responses and the technical reasoning behind them.

• Conduct red-team exercises on frontier AI models to evaluate potential for misuse.

• Maintain engagement with reading and writing about misuse scenarios within the chemistry domain.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant experience in executing chemical processes and scaling them from laboratory to pilot to production levels.

• Expertise in designing and developing synthetic routes in pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemical applications.

• Knowledge of process chemistry and reaction engineering, including optimization, kinetics, and impurity management.

• Experience in scaling operations from laboratory to pilot to production, including necessary safety evaluations.

• Familiarity with precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory chemistry.

• Skills in method development and troubleshooting within a GMP or equivalent quality-controlled setting.

• Capability to differentiate between standard professional chemistry inquiries and potentially hazardous requests.

• Excellent writing skills; each evaluation requires a written explanation that is accessible to non-experts.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly desirable.

• Must not utilize classified, export-controlled, NDA-protected, or pre-publication-review materials.
