• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretations in a courteous and professional manner.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.
• Articulate clearly in both languages, employing appropriate pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor consistently throughout all interpreting sessions.
• Stay composed during interpreting sessions, particularly if one of the primary speakers is unclear or agitated, especially in emergency contexts such as 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during designated work hours.
• Adhere to client directives, following protocols to meet client expectations for Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP), while refraining from engaging with the LEP without the client's consent.
• Be familiar with protocols and terminology across various industries including, but not limited to, Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show dedication to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse work environment.
• Proficiency in Sylheti and English, with a strong understanding of the related cultural nuances.
• Capability to provide cultural competency and evaluate regional and accent variations to facilitate communication with LEP individuals.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to maintain a high degree of accuracy during interpretations.
• Ability to focus, remain detached from the dialogue, maintain neutrality and objectivity at all times, especially in discussions involving sensitive topics like end-of-life issues, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
• Educational background or professional experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Must be adaptable to any LLS technology upgrades that enhance service delivery and meet client needs.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an affiliated LanguageLine Solutions business may be ineligible for consideration.
• Proficiency in reading and writing the requested languages is highly preferred.
