SVP, Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy

📋 Description

• Develop, lead, and implement Safelite’s comprehensive government affairs and public policy strategy, in alignment with long-term business objectives and growth initiatives.

• Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership regarding legislative, regulatory, political, and reputational risks and opportunities.

• Distill complex public policy developments into clear, actionable insights for business leaders and functional teams.

• Represent Safelite as the primary liaison to federal, state, and local government officials, regulators, and pertinent agencies.

• Lead strategic interactions with policymakers to influence legislation, regulations, and administrative actions impacting Safelite and the wider industry.

• Cultivate and sustain high-trust, long-term relationships with elected officials, regulators, and key policy influencers across political lines.

• Supervise and enhance Safelite’s federal and multi-state lobbying initiatives, including direct engagement and coordination with over 30 external lobbyists and consultants.

• Direct the company’s advocacy, grassroots, and coalition-building efforts to promote Safelite’s public policy priorities.

• Provide executive oversight of PAC governance, political contributions, and engagement strategies, ensuring effectiveness, transparency, and compliance.

• Lead the monitoring, analysis, and forecasting of legislative, regulatory, and policy trends, evaluating impacts on business, operations, and reputation.

• Guide the formulation of company policy positions, white papers, testimony, and legislative proposals.

• Position Safelite as a thought leader and trusted voice in the industry by participating in hearings, public forums, and industry events.

• Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Finance, Communications, and Business Unit leaders to synchronize public policy efforts with enterprise goals.

• Forge strong external partnerships with industry associations, OEMs, clients, insurers, and coalition partners to promote shared policy objectives.

• Provide training and guidance to senior leaders and associates on best practices for government affairs engagement and advocacy.

• Ensure adherence to all applicable lobbying, ethics, disclosure, and campaign finance laws and regulations.

• Maintain the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all government and political activities.

• Safeguard and enhance Safelite’s brand and reputation through disciplined, values-driven public policy engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory strategy at both the state and federal levels.

• 10+ years of experience managing complex lobbying operations, including multi-state and federal networks and external advocacy partners.

• Demonstrated success in leading public policy, political, and advocacy initiatives that yield measurable business outcomes.

• Significant experience in overseeing PACs, political compliance, and grassroots initiatives.

• Proven experience engaging with complex, highly regulated industries (e.g., insurance, automotive, mobility, financial services, or healthcare).
