This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +5 more states.
• Provide strategic leadership and overall accountability for the Consumer Lending division, which includes Indirect Lending, Consumer Lending Underwriting, and Consumer Lending Operations, while overseeing performance, alignment, and results across these areas.
• Ensure that established metrics for each department are regularly tracked, analyzed, and reported.
• Collaborate with the CCO and the Consumer Lending VPs to develop the Consumer Lending Strategy and an implementation plan that clearly defines and measures the performance results and outcomes for each consumer lending area.
• Guarantee competitive products and services that meet members' needs in each market, while being responsible for maximizing productivity, profitability (P&L), and efficiency through Consumer Lending VPs. Achieve annual business results (P&L) that exceed budget expectations.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Vice Presidents responsible for essential consumer lending functions by setting clear strategic objectives, performance expectations, and leadership standards, while fostering their professional growth and readiness for succession.
• Monitor performance by providing ongoing feedback and coaching to direct reports, indirect reports, and others as necessary, conducting performance and development conversations, as well as effective performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with the Chief Lending Officer to design, implement, and monitor consumer lending strategies that align with the Credit Union’s goals, providing regular updates on performance, portfolio trends, and risk considerations.
• Oversee the administration, performance, and optimization of mortgage systems, analyze and develop department metrics, and prepare reports for executive leaders and the CCO's review.
• Maintain and monitor the Consumer Lending pipeline to ensure timely processing of loans.
• Review monthly statistics of management and report on the quality of loan applications submitted through various channels, along with trends in approvals and funding.
• Advocate for continuous improvement and modernization across consumer lending by setting expectations for process efficiency, effective technology use, regulatory compliance, and consistently high-quality member experiences.
• Ensure effective governance and oversight of credit risk by establishing and maintaining appropriate underwriting standards, portfolio quality controls, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Act as the final escalation point for complex credit exceptions and strategic lending decisions in accordance with all Federal, State, and NCUA requirements.
• Provide financial stewardship for the Consumer Lending division by developing and overseeing the annual budget, monitoring financial performance, and reviewing key performance indicators to ensure the achievement of growth, profitability, and risk objectives.
• Foster a high-performance leadership culture rooted in collaboration, integrity, accountability, and innovation, while promoting leadership development, employee engagement, and long-term talent development within the division.
• Support and lead cultural changes as they arise, collaborating closely with the CCO, direct reports, and other colleagues to maintain an ongoing culture and enhance organizational capabilities.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Credit Union's defined ethics and values, along with strategic planning related to consumer lending programs, trends, and other responsibilities.
• Represent the Credit Union at an executive level during internal and external engagements, including interactions with members, team members, business partners, dealers, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Perform additional executive-level duties as assigned in support of the Credit Union’s mission, strategic priorities, and operational excellence.
• Participate in and support continuous improvement activities.
• Represent the Credit Union positively and professionally.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding member, team member, and other sensitive information.

• Engage in, support, and volunteer for credit union member community activities and events that promote member-centric experiences.
• Fulfill other related duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Consumer Lending sales and operations with direct credit authority, as well as experience analyzing loan portfolios and managing products. This includes five years of directly related leadership experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of banking or financial institutional mortgage lending.
• High level of credit experience.
• Experience working in an organization with a regional model that includes some matrix reporting structure.
• Skills in business plans and budget planning and preparation.
• Understanding of credit scoring and automated approval systems.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and NCUA laws and regulations, as well as internal policies related to consumer lending.
• Experience with product innovation and digital lending platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling the presentation of complex subjects in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities: capability to analyze and evaluate loan requests and make credit decisions.
• Ability to develop effective solutions and make decisions that have a broad impact on the organization and to take accountability for those decisions.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• Position requires the ability to formulate realistic and attainable strategic plans to meet business development goals.
