Survey Technician – Crew Chief

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Gather data to ensure successful project completion

• Identify boundaries, markers, enhancements, utilities, and other features for ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys

• Verify and process raw field data, conduct calculations, and manage the downloading/filing of survey data

• Conduct necessary project research

• Adhere to project manager directives and work orders

• Maintain daily communication with the Field Project Manager regarding the progress of the field schedule

• Safely perform survey tasks across challenging terrain and remote locations

• Work outdoors under extreme heat, cold, wet, muddy, and high/precarious conditions

• Transport heavy equipment to various job sites

• Engage in regional and national travel

• Be available for overtime, including weekends as required

• Foster relationships with clients, contractors, and team members

• Deliver projects safely and efficiently within established schedules and budgets

• Maintain and troubleshoot survey equipment and address field issues

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief

• Strong grasp of surveying principles and practices

• Proficient in using survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors

• Familiarity with CAD software, specifically Carlson AutoCAD, is advantageous but not mandatory

• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team while delivering high-quality results on time and within budget

• Ability to safely navigate rugged terrain in remote areas

• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, muddy, and high/precarious situations

• Capacity to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds

• Readiness to travel regionally and nationally frequently

• Availability for overtime, including weekends as necessary
