This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine, interpret, and code medical record documentation for diagnostic and intricate procedural details in general surgical fields.

• Assign ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes with the highest level of specificity.

• Accurately and thoroughly abstract demographic and coding data into the information system.

• Assess documentation to ensure medical necessity.

• Review orders and claims prior to submission to guarantee completeness and precision, aiming to reduce claim denials.

• Evaluate records and generate reports.

• Offer technical support to physicians and departmental personnel to identify and rectify issues or inaccuracies.

• Cultivate strong working relationships with physicians and other key stakeholders.

• Conduct coding for diagnostic, intricate procedural, and surgical cases.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is mandatory.

• Minimum of one year of professional coding experience across various physician specialties, including Radiology, Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, Women's Services, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Urology, and other specialty practices is required.

• One or more of the following certifications must be obtained upon hire: RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CCS, or CCS-P.

• Experience in coding across diverse specialties is preferred.

• Prior remote coding experience is preferred.

• An AAPC-accredited coding certificate program is preferred.
