This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Evaluate encounters in prebill or retrospective workflows to confirm coding profiles.
β’ Analyze relevant code sets, abstracted data elements, overlooked query opportunities, and associated encounter data collection points.
β’ Conduct quality coding reviews and audits in accordance with departmental productivity and accuracy standards.
β’ Assist in processing rebills following coding audit modifications and coding corrections from the billing department.
β’ Generate written summary reports detailing findings.
β’ Organize and facilitate one-on-one or small group feedback sessions.
β’ Maintain communication with Coding Operations, CDI, PRM, CRI, and other internal and external collaborators.
β’ Support peer departments with production coding during periods of staff shortages.
β’ Enhance data quality for reporting and research, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement.
β’ Conduct educational sessions, lead roundtable discussions, contribute to the coding newsletter, and perform basic trend or data evaluations.
β’ Assess codes through data reports and trending opportunities, validate findings through audits, and develop action-plan recommendations.
β’ Undertake additional tasks, such as data quality reports, as directed by the Coding Supervisor.
β’ High School Diploma/GED is mandatory.
β’ An associate degree/college diploma or bachelor's degree in health information management is preferred.
β’ A minimum of 3 years of Coding Audit experience with auditing skills relevant to coding/billing accuracy of coding staff is required.
β’ One of the following certifications is required upon hire: Certified Coding Specialist - Physician, Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Administrator, or Registered Health Information Technician.
β’ Familiarity with applicable coding guidelines, including internal coding policies and procedures, AHA and AMA coding references, and local, state, and federal coding regulations.
