• Evaluate rope attributes and technical specifications submitted through standardized forms and accurately determine the correct internal Part Number (PN).
• Collaborate closely with Field and Engineering stakeholders to ascertain suitable specifications, qualified suppliers, and establish approved PNs for future utilization.
• Assist in maintaining alignment between engineering specifications and sourcing strategies to uphold Otis service and safety standards.
• Promote the standardization of rope requirements to approved PNs and suppliers to minimize variations and field-level challenges.
• Identify, assess, and select qualified rope suppliers based on total cost, quality, lead time, capacity, and risk factors.
• Allocate orders to the most cost-effective supplier, taking into account material cost, logistics, lead time, and supplier performance.
• Recognize opportunities to transition field demand to approved suppliers and preferred sourcing pathways.
• Achieve category savings for rope commodities through effective sourcing strategies, supplier consolidation, and optimization of specifications.
• Seek, negotiate, and finalize supply agreements to facilitate dedicated spending with managed suppliers.
• Oversee the complete order execution process for rope commodities, from sourcing to delivery to the customer.
• Prepare purchase orders (POs) for non-Otis rope materials sourced from both domestic and international suppliers in compliance with Otis Terms and Conditions.
• Ensure supplier PO and price confirmations; employ negotiating techniques to secure the best offers from suppliers.
• Manage logistics to guarantee on-time delivery, appropriate inventory levels, and service performance metrics.
• Promptly escalate any supply, quality, pricing, or delivery issues and drive their resolution.
• Implement defined centralized sourcing processes in collaboration with Field Operations, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders, supported by well-documented standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with Field teams to comprehend application requirements and identify opportunities to shift demand to approved rope suppliers.
• Partner with Engineering to assess alternative suppliers and technical solutions for ropes that are not currently aligned.
• Strive towards the goal of having 100% of rope spending under management through centralization or controlled purchasing pathways.
• Integrate spend data, field feedback, supplier performance, and delivery metrics into commodity strategies and roadmaps.
• Analyze and project demand to discern stock versus catalog opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to expand and sustain rope offerings within the Field Requisition System (FRS).
• Resolve discrepancies in purchase orders.
• Address material rejections.
• Manage price increases.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Resolve invoicing issues.
• Candidates should hold a BS or BA in business, supply chain, or engineering.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a supply chain/sourcing role is required.
• Familiarity with SDC/ JDE/ ERP systems is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft products: Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Forms, SmartSheet, and Teams.
• The ability to interpret Engineering drawings and customer Elevator/Escalator specification/requirement documentation is essential.
• Must be capable of collaborating with various cross-functional groups, including Field Operations (Sales, Supervisors, Project Managers), Engineering, and Supplier Quality to achieve business objectives.
